If I said that you had a heavenly body would you hold it against me?--- "Moon Beamz"
Tonight is a full moon. I don't want to get off on a tangent right away, but I'd like to mention how this reminds me of Dick Wolf, creator of Law and Order, and an all around silly name. Say it like this, "dickwolf." after every episode, then howl.
Last night I was awoken from a dead sleep by a a powerful force sneaking through my window, the light of the moon. Maybe I'm unusually sensitive to it, but whenever there is a moon beam coming through my window and hitting me, I can't sleep. It's like a laser bullet of reflection and reception shot by Thee Goddess with her moon gun, sighted up at my head.
I get to thinking and can't fall back asleep until the beam has passed over my bed. Last night, it was a period of 2 hours or so, like 2-4am, and I started to remember this poem I wrote a little while back. It was written while I was reading a bunch of classic literature and written for "Milady ______" as Edgar Allen Poe would say and, it's about a girl I used to kinda like and crush on, as I would say. But the poem never found it's way to her and sunk into the parts of my brain that are only activated when laying directly in a moon beam. So I'll just give it to y'all instead. I couldn't remember it all, but in was in verse, with no chorus like a song. And it is about the New Moon, which to me is the epitome of a feminine force to make a soul acknowledge the truth of the proverb "absence makes the heart grow stronger." Especially on a night like tonight when even a veil of cumulus hides not her brilliant beauty.
It doesn't have a title, nor is it a song.
But I'll call it "Moon Beams" or "heavenly bodies" and finish it now that it is no longer of the same importance it was when inspired.
New Moon, New Moon Hail to thee,
tonight may I, my true love see
although i even still adore her shadow-
Apollo high and burning bright,
I pray to thee cast down your light
upon her cheek so rosey bright morello-
By Pollux, I but have one wish,
tonight may I, my true love kiss
what ask thee for a sacrifice to guide me?
Oh Alma Venus, smile on me
I place another rose for thee
at your alter so that i may find her-
I'm shooting from the cuff here, but I think I could make a chorus like, something like, umm "waxing..." no, "my heart is waxing to be full of your love." and "wanning...um..my eyes are waning to a close and see you in my dreams." something like that... maybe put "so it seems" at the end of the first line so it rhymes...
anyway, maybe I'll think about this and make it into a song today. It's far to cheesy to be anything but a blogger exclusive... but I'll pick it around. There was a time that writing this poem was important to me, I was sitting in my room in the candle light with an image of "milady _____" and a hootin and a howlin my heart was penned, like a dickwolf for a plump chicken of justice under a New Moon, so I guess it deserves a re-thinkin' at the least.
Today I'll be jammin some new material with my trusty homies, Klarndog, Radams, and J-man. I'll roll some tape for you listeners.
